Yes, you can be a fixer but it doesn’t mean you need to fix everything. Then another voice creeps in? Some things are easier said than done. Ironically, only you can make it happen too.
You are busy everyday and battling with time. It won’t be long before you start showing signs of burnout. How often do you ignore the signs to take care of yourself?
Self-care is not a one off episode. Like your car, it requires regular maintenance. I know that very well as I had experienced burnout myself because I refused to stop and continued pushing my limits. At one point, I suffered from fatigue and health problems. It took a while but ultimately I realized that I took on more that I could at the expense of my well being.
Resilience is essential to support us in today’s world. It helps us cope with changes, maintain balance and sustain to continue enjoying our life.
There are plenty of tips out there on how to build your resilience. Here’s my thoughts on what were useful for me to become more resilient;
- Self awareness – be aware of your mind and body needs which includes your thinking patterns.
- Focusing on what we can control – it takes discipline and practice.
- Be curious and ask what’s might be the upside in this situation?
